Please be careful; the beverage you're about to enjoy is extremely hot!
This page gathers together some of the Java resources and online references I've come across, in one convenient place!
Before you do anything else, go to the Java pages at Sun Microsystems. Their front page is updated almost daily with Java news and developments.
Richard Baldwin also teaches Java at Austin Community College. He's written his own textbooks and published them online.
Here are some other pages of helpful Java info and links:
Here are a few editors and IDEs I've found sloshing around on the internet:
Source Editor and Source Studio (Two freeware Java developer applications.)
Kawa, Simple Yet Powerful IDE (Shareware; color syntax highlighting, compile, run, debug options.)
CodeMagic Universal IDE beta 1B (This is mostly geared toward Perl; claims to be useful for Java as well. Quite beta.)
JDEX, Java Development Environment using Windows Explorer (Not an IDE; helps integrate command-line java tools javac etc. with associations at the Windows Explorer.)
emacs JDE for Windows (but why?)
There seem to be hundreds of these. If anyone can recommend a few for a budding but timid Java programmer, please let me know!
And Last but Least,
Visit Lavarand at Silicon Graphics (It's not Java, but it's only one letter off.)
