Kurt Weill wrote the music for, and Bertholt Brecht the words of The Threepenny Opera and other musicals. Kurt Weill himself had a prolific career in the avant-garde music scene of Berlin; he later moved to the United States and collaborated with Gershwin, among others, on Broadway.

Christopher Durang is a playwright: he's written Baby With the Bathwater, Beyond Therapy (which is also a hilarious movie), The Marriage of Bette and Boo and others. He's best described as an ex-Catholic Pirandello (for the nineties).
